Questions and Answers

Answers to your Questions!

I can't really put into words how blessed we have felt this week after announcing our adoption! Thank you so much for all of the love and support! We have been so encouraged and touched by all of the responses!

We have gotten so many questions about our adoption journey over the past week. We thought it would be a good idea to post some of the most frequently asked! Feel free to ask us more, so you can learn as we learn!

Where will Baby Morris be born? Do you have a baby picked out already?
We are pursuing domestic adoption, meaning we are adopting from within the U.S. We won’t know what state or when our baby will be born in until a birth mother chooses us to be the adoptive parents.

How does this process work?

In our last post, we talked about our home study, which is the first major step in our adoption process. We have just started the process of the home study and it can take 4 months to get this completed.

(Refer back to our first post to read more about the home study!)

We are currently working on our Dear Birthmother letter and our online profile book. Our letter and profile book will play an important part in our adoption. This is basically a scrapbook of our lives. It includes pictures of us, describes our life, interests, beliefs and what kind of life we hope to give to a child. The purpose of this book is to allow the birthmother (and father if he is involved) to see if they can picture their child becoming part of our family.

Once we have completed our home study, our letter and online profile book, we will be ready to present to birthmothers. This means that our adoption agency will start “matching” us with potential birthmothers. Our profile book will then be presented to birthmothers. The birthmother could be presented with many books at a time! She will look through them and choose the family she can picture raising her child. We might have to present our profile book to multiple birthmothers before one chooses us! Once we are chosen, than we are presented the birthmothers profile with all her information and decide on if we want to be a MATCH! Once we decide that, than we are committed to that baby (although the birthmother could still decide to parent her child up until shortly after the child is born).

How long will it take?

We aren’t sure! The typical adoption process can take anywhere from just a few months to a few years. Our adoption agency tells the adoptive parents to plan on it taking 12-18 months (once we are approved and “active”).

What are the expenses of adoption?
Adoptions are expensive. Adoptions in the U.S. typically range from $20,000-$45,000. The cost is very intimidating and most people are shocked when they learn about the financial side of adoption.

We are currently researching and thinking about ways to fundraise and finance our adoption. We will be starting to apply for grants once our home study is completed (It is a requirement to wait until the home study is complete). We will be fundraising throughout our adoption process so that we will be prepared financially when Baby Morris is ready to come home!

 How old? Gender? Name?

We are adopting a newborn. We are hoping to be there (wherever it ends up being) the day our baby is born (or as soon as possible).

We are excited to see which baby God will place in our family. When praying and talking about our options, Chris and I both felt like we should be open minded and we don’t have a preference for gender! We might be able to find out the gender once we are matched with a birthmother. However, we might not know the gender until the baby is actually born! We don’t have a name or even starting thinking about names! We will be able to pick the name but we wont be worrying about this until we have been matched which will still be awhile.
Oli (Our dog)?!
It warms my heart that so many people have asked about Oli! If you know me then you know how much I adore my dog! Oli has brought so much joy to our lives during this difficult time. Oli will be just fine! We will continue to show him the same amount of attention as we do now when we get our bundle of joy!

How can we help?

The number one way we would love for you to be a part of our journey is through prayer! There are so many unknowns in this process; we believe that God has a plan for us and that HE is in control! Pray for our hearts to fully trust in Him through the journey!

You can consider to participate in the fundraisers that we will be putting on. We are brainstorming about fundraisers right now and will definitely need people who are willing to volunteer, donate items, time and resources!

Finally, keep asking us about our adoption adventure! We love to talk about it and it helps us feel supported and excited!

We have a t-shirt champain going on until September 11th! We are excited about introducing these t-shirts for our fundraising! When you buy a t-shirt, you will be investing in our family! We cannot tell you how much that means to us. We truly are so grateful for all of the wonderful people who support us!

Launching Our T-shirt Fundraiser

Launching Our T-Shirt Fundraiser!

We are really excited about starting our t-shirt fundraiser! We love the shirts we designed and we hope you will too!

-There are 5 t-shirt styles available: unisex, ladies, youth, long sleeved & sweatshirt!

How this fundraiser works:

We've designed our shirt, set our "minimal shirt sales goal" & launched our online t-shirt fundraiser through a site called Bonfire funds. In order for this fundraiser to be successful, we have to sell at least 100 t-shirts in 2 weeks! As long as we meet this "minimum shirt sales goal", Bonfire prints & ships all shirts directly to our supporters!

If we are not able to reach our minimum shirt sales goal, our fund ends, no shirts are made, no one is charged & no money is exchanged. If (when!) we do meet our goal, Bonfire will print, ship & charge you for your order. SO, in order to meet our goal, we have to sell at least 100 shirts in 2 weeks! We are hoping to go over & beyond this goal with your help!!!

How you can help:

1. Please consider joining our journey by purchasing a t-shirt!

To view & purchase our t-shirts visit:

2. We would love for you to share our Bonfire page on your social media outlets & with your friends & family! Spreading the word about this fundraiser is crucial to its success!

3. Continue to pray for our fundraising efforts! We are confident that God is calling us to adopt & is going to help us bring in the money we need to do so!

We have 2 weeks to reach our goal!!!

Thanks so much for being a part of such an exciting time in our lives!!!

COVERED BRIDGE FESTIVAL

COVERED BRIDGE FESTIVAL

Hello! We have felt SO loved, supported & encouraged by so many of YOU since making our big announcement! I can't even to begin to tell you how it makes us feel to get all the texts, calls, messages, and kind words that we have received in the last week.

We have been incredibly busy this year making items for the Covered Bridge Festival! As some of you may or may not know Adoption is very expensive; we have been working very hard because 100% of the money raised at the festival this year will go towards our adoption! Our goal is to make as many items as we can to raise as much money as we can! We are so blessed and excited to think that all of our hard work will go towards what we have hoped and prayed for!

We have focused quite a bit of time looking into adoption and interviewing agencies so we could be sure we made the right decision. We now have 5 more weeks to finish making all the items we have left to make. We plan to spend every second we have left in doing so! We know that all of our hard work will pay off!

We have been blessed with this incredible opportunity to change the life of a child and make our family whole. Thanks in advance for everyone's support along this journey!

This year the dates are October 9th- 18th from 9am-6pm daily! This year we were offered a great INDOOR spot inside of the "Old Firehouse" on Main Street. We will be in the Southeast section of the building.
Front of the building we will be located in!

Back of the building we will he located in!

Directions to Bridgeton Festival: Turn west off of State Road 59 onto 900 South. Turn left onto Country Road 550 then right onto Hawkins Road. Parking will be on your left.

Our Annoucement!

We are ADOPTING!

Chris and I are thrilled to announce that we have started the process of adoption! We are incredibly excited and filled with joy about this new direction God is leading our family towards. We decided to start this blog so that we could bring our family and friends along with us on this journey!

Let us start by filling you in on how we came to this decision. The end of 2010 Chris and I started trying to get pregnant. After a year of trying to conceive, we decided to go to our doctor to see if there was something wrong. We were diagnosed with infertility in 2012. Along with that I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and have endometriosis. This was an extremely difficult time for us, and I took it especially hard. I honestly felt like all of my dreams came crashing down around me. The sadness and devastation I felt were indescribable. I felt hopeless, alone and abandoned by God. The one thing I’ve always desired to be is a mom and I’ve always felt like my calling was to be a mommy because growing up I always helped with my younger brothers and sister. After being diagnosed with infertility, I felt cheated by God and felt lots of anger, confusion and a great sense of loss for the biological children I have always hoped to have. Pregnancy announcements, pictures of babies, and even people just bringing up anything related to children in a conversation was enough to send me into a fit of tears or worse. I’m so thankful for my close friends and family who prayed for me and hugged me when there weren’t the right words to comfort me.

After going through IVF (in-vitro fertilization), a few unsuccessful IUI (intrauterine insemination) treatments, and a miscarriage; we felt like it was the right time for us to pursue adoption. As soon as we made the decision to seriously look into adoption, I felt an OVERWHELMING sense of peace; joy and purpose come back into my life. This helped confirm in my heart that God was directing our steps towards adoption. Through the very early stages of our adoption process, I felt God start to mend the hole in my heart and giving me a refreshed hope and a new dream for our family. We received so much encouragement from close friends and family when we told them about pursing adoption. We filled out an application with an adoption agency and started our journey with adoption.

Adoption will allow us to follow our desire to start our family and we are so thankful we have this option! I know many people won’t understand our decision to adopt but we feel that this is best choice to become parents. Basically, we believe that any child we adopt will be just as much “our own” as any biological child we could have. We don’t see adoption as a second choice; we see adoption as a beautiful way for God to provide a family for us. We believe that God is opening new doors and wants us to take a different direction. We would love for those of you following along with our journey to parenthood to pray for an expecting birth mother's decision to choose us, every child in need of adoption, revelation about what is wrong in our bodies, doctors who are wise and willing to help us treat our infertility and for complete healing and the ability to conceive and birth biological children. Regardless of what may happen in the future with our infertility diagnosis, we know that God is calling us to start our family now through adoption and we are responding in faith!

Where we are in the process now:

We are still in the beginning stages of adoption. The biggest thing we are working on right now is completing our home study. A home study is conducted by a licensed social worker. The purpose of the home study is to educate, evaluate and prepare us for adoption. The home study consists of home visits, extensive background checks, health evaluations, collecting references, as well as paperwork and interviewing. Once we have completed our home study, we will be approved and one step closer to becoming parents!

We are also working on researching and brainstorming creative ways to fundraise and finance our adoption. We will go into the financial aspects of adoption in another post!

How you can pray for us:

Pray that our home study process will continue to go smoothly and that we will be approved quickly and without any complications.

Pray for us as we face questions surrounding our infertility diagnosis and adoption journey. Pray for God to give us the grace and wisdom to answer all questions (even the invasive, rude or insensitive ones) with truth, love and kindness. We want our journey to help educate others on adoption and also to allow others to understand more about God’s amazing love.

Please pray for all of the details of our adoption to fall into place-from the legal aspects, to fundraising, our hopes and dreams as a family come true.

Thank you for joining our adoption adventure! We are so thankful to have the support of our family and friends! Stay tuned for more posts and information on how you can be involved in bringing Baby Morris home!

About us

Oli wanted to help make crafts with me :)
We both work at Pharmaceutical companies and enjoy doing what we love; which is helping those in need! We both have about an hour commute to work but we enjoy that time before and after work to unwind and it gives us time to think about life. We work very hard around our beautiful house, we live on 5 acres which gives us plenty of things to do! We also enjoy our hobby of crafting and woodworking! I love the see the look on our family, friends, and customers when we build them something they LOVE! In our free time we ride our motorcycle. We have a Harley Davidson Heritage Softtail and enjoy riding the country roads and going on trips. We genuinely love to hang out with each and are truly meant for each other.

We went on a weekend getaway to St. Louis on the Motorcyle.

Our Love Story

We stopped by The freeze on our wedding day!

Working at The Freeze when we were in High School!
We were both born in Indiana! We met at an Ice cream shop called "The Freeze" where we both worked while in High School. We knew early on we would end up together & had so much fun falling in love with each other during our dating days. We dated for 7 years before Chris proposed in Gatlinburg, TN. I was completely overjoyed & excited to start planning the wedding! Ten months later we were married in Brazil, Indiana. We had a beautiful ceremony & felt so loved and supported by our friends & family. It’s been almost 4 years of marriage so far, & we really do love each more than ever. We have over come so many changelles in our releastionship and i cant be more happy that we have each other to get though life together forever!

In 2004 when we first stated dating.

Our Family

We have a big family that helps us and supports us in everything we do! We are blessed that most of our family lives very close or in driving distance. We get together on a regular basis and have fun and enjoy ourselves together.

Our Dog
We also have our Goldendoodle! His name is Oli and we adore him as he has brought so much joy to our lives during a difficult time. He is the most loving, playful, relaxing dog and we are very thankful for him. I would say he is the best dog ever! He is a mix between a golden retriever and a poodle which are both great breeds. Oli loves to be around children, loves to meet new people, and loves visitors!
